The structural optimization research group (GOE) develops its activity in work areas related to the analysis, design and optimization of structures and mechanical structural elements. The main research topics of the group are: the optimal design of metal and concrete structures, the optimal robust design of structures with uncertainty in the design parameters, the optimal design of topology of discrete and continuum structures, and the optimal design with finite elements and metamodels. The GOE activities are supported with public and private funds, which the group obtains from its participation in research projects and contracts with companies. The human group that constitutes the team is made up of 7 professors from the Department of Structures, Construction and Graphic Expression.
