Recent research

The group members’ recent research* focuses on the following topics:

 

Economics of tobacco consumption

Although the prevalence of tobacco consumption has decreased over the recent past, a large fraction of the Spanish population still smokes regularly. Tobacco control therefore remains a crucial component of public health policies. In our recent work we have paid particular attention to the design and impact of tobacco taxes in the Spanish market, amongst related topics. The results from our research in this area are collected in the following papers:

    Inmigrant issues


    We have looked at differences in utilisation of health care between migrants and the autoctonous population and also at the extent of discrimination towards migrants in the second hand market
