Centre for Study and Research on Mobility and Road Safety / (CEISMV)

Introduction:
The Centre for Study and Research on Mobility and Road Safety of the Technical University of Cartagena, according to current regulations and university statutes, is a centre devoted to the organization, coordination, performing and scientific promotion of the studies in mobility and road safety. The main objectives of the CEISMV are:
  • To organize, plan and develop specialized teaching of the set of disciplines related to the subjects of safety, mobility and road mobility.
  • To develop R&D activities on the issues related to the centre's competence in collaboration with institution, administrations and private companies.
  • To carry out scientific updating on studies in safety, mobility and road safety through seminars, courses and information work.
  • To support and advice academic, scientific and cultural exchanges with regard to the centre's competence.
  • To promote and intensify the interdisciplinary nature of the centre's studies, by constituting interdisciplinary teams, organizing exchange meetings and seminars, designing research projects, producing academic papers and other university means available.
  • To strengthen the presence of the Technical University of Cartagena in the national and international scene of the centre's studies.
  • To develop collaboration activities with public or private institutions in all the aspects concerning the centre's studies.
Research lines:
The main research lines intended to be developed, among others, are those related to intelligent transport systems, mobility and road safety:
  • Advanced Traffic Management Systems.
  • Advanced Traveller Information Systems.
  • Advanced Vehicle Control Systems (AVCS).
  • Commercial Vehicle Operation Systems (CVO).
  • Advanced Public Transport Systems (APTS).
  • Emergency Management Systems (EMS).
Facilities:
The premises and equipment of the centre are mainly those belonging to DSIE at the Technical University of Cartagena. Two research laboratories (one of them at ETSII and the other at ETSIT) and industrial unit in Cabezo Beaza state.
